Knutsford library

Brief description

The architect was Alfred Darbyshire, from Manchester. The building was extended in the late 20th century, with minor alternations.

Awarded Grade II listing in 1999.

It was replaced as a library in 2002 with a new library building on a different site.

Current status: Now repurposed as a nursery (2020)

Newport library

Brief description

Known as Carnegie library, this was the main library in Newport until a new one was built in 2015. The architect was C T Ward.

Current status: Closed in 2015. No longer a public library, now run as a nursery (2019)

Visited?

Yes, during our holiday in South Wales in June 2019. We couldn’t go inside, but the nursery is clearly busy and the building looked to be in good repair.
